Bargermeer canal
The Bargerveen Canal is a canal in the Netherlands. It is approximately 11 km long and connects the Drenthe Bargerveen with the Drents-Friese Wold. The canal is part of the waterways in the north of the Netherlands and aims to promote recreational boating and tourism in the area. The canal was built in the 1970s and has various recreational facilities, including marinas, yacht harbors, and holiday parks along the banks. It also passes through various nature reserves, such as the Bargerveen and the Drents-Friese Wold. The Bargerveen Canal is quite unique in the Netherlands due to the close cooperation between various parties, including the province, municipalities, water boards, and business, to ensure optimal exploitation and development of the canal.
